PDT Architects Transforms a Press Room into an Inspirational Newsroom

Posted March 9, 2018

PDT Architects, the newest member of the CHA Family of Companies, partnered with Workplace Transformation Facilitation as the architect of record to relocate the Portland Press Herald’s newsroom and associated departments from One City Center to the former press hall on Gannett Drive in Scarborough, ME. However, before the press hall could be transformed into PDT’s elegant design and outfitted with accommodations befitting more than 100 employees, the former 3-story tall, 750-ton press had to be disassembled and removed, carving an open chasm where the press once stood. Over the course of six months, the former press was removed, the press hall was renovated, and a new printing press was installed in a separate part of the building. Watch this video to learn more about this collaborative effort between PDT Architects, Workplace Transformation Facilitation, Wright-Ryan (Construction Manager), and the subcontractors to reimagine this space as a state-of-the-art newsroom for Maine Today Media/Portland Press Herald.
