Project : VCU Physicians Dining Room Renovation

Virginia Commonwealth University - Medical College of Virginia -- Richmond, Virginia

CHA provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural design for the renovation of an outdoor patio into an enclosed dining facility. Located on the fourth floor of the main hospital, the patio included an adjoining office space and restroom renovation in the former atrium space.

The design used three roof-mounted direct-exchange air handlers to provide conditioned air to the 6,000 sq. ft. space. The air handlers, lighting and half of the receptacles utilize emergency power sources in order to serve as a standalone response center in the event of an emergency. CHA’s structural design tied the new structure into the existing structure and provided reinforcement where required by analysis.
