Transportation Scores Big Wins in Indianapolis

CHA’s Midwest Transportation Team in Indiana has reason to celebrate. The Team received news the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded CHA several projects that will book in 2020-2021. CHA’s leadership on four new projects—one as a prime consultant and three as a subconsultant—reaffirms our commitment to responsibly improving the intricate crisscrossing roadways throughout the Crossroads of America.

Taking advantage of CHA’s experienced, Indiana staff, operating out of its office in the Indianapolis Union Station, the projects include:

SR 244 Roadway Reconstruction

CHA is the prime consultant for the reconstruction of eight miles of SR 244 in Shelby and Rush Counties, Indiana. CHA’s Project Manager, Doug Dagley, PE, has a personal stake in improving the efficiency and safety of this eight-mile stretch of roadway. He was born and raised in the area and knows full well the concerns of its current state. CHA’s approach will remedy roadway cracking, expand the narrow roadway, and add ditches as necessary.

I-69 Section 6 New Freeway – Construction Inspection
CHA, as a subconsultant to the Corradino Group, will provide construction inspection services for the construction of I-69 in Morgan and Johnson Counties, from one mile north of SR-44 to Fairview Road. This project is Contract 4 of the I-69 Finish Line initiative, a $189 million section of the $1.5 billion project that includes more than 26 miles of new interstate highway, more than 35 lane-miles of new local access roads, 39 new bridges, and 35 existing bridges that will be rehabilitated or replaced. The addition of CHA to the Corradino Team allows the team to successfully tackle the project.

INDOT Traffic Management Center Operations

INDOT’s Traffic Management Call Centers in Indianapolis and Gary are 24-hour a day, 7 day a week operations. As a subconsultant to AECOM Technical Services, Inc. for this two-year contract, CHA will assist INDOT in the support and operation of its Traffic Management Call Centers by providing traffic signal engineering services. The CHA team will be working to maximize the success of the Traffic Management Centers and will be dedicated to improving and optimizing signal operations processes and procedures.

Small Town Reconstruction, SR 28 Pavement Replacement

CHA will provide environmental services on this initiative to reconstruct SR 28 as a subconsultant to Clark Dietz. This 2.5-mile stretch of SR 28, which conveys upwards of 11,000 vehicles a day, is distressed with cracking and rutting. Timely, efficient environmental documentation will be critical to this project. To that end, CHA was brought on board to bolster the Clark Dietz team, providing expertise in waterway permitting and hazardous materials assessment. CHA will perform biological and hazardous materials components of the Categorical Exclusion, which will be led by Clark Dietz’s Anne Shaw.
