Asheville Regional Airport Terminal Planning Study

Originally built in 1961, the Asheville Regional Airport conducted periodic expansions to its terminal building without any building system upgrades, leading to increased stress on its water, sewer, electrical, fire protection, mechanical, and roofing systems. With high growth in passenger activity levels, the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority needed to explore ways to expand and improve the terminal building.

CHA performed a terminal building assessment study, providing recommended system upgrades and improvements. A forecasting exercise of passenger activity, terminal facility sizing, and conceptual planning tasks were assessed to address the portions of the building needing expansion and how best to accommodate necessary improvements. Completed on a fast-track schedule, the funding timeline was met, allowing the authority to secure the necessary funds to initiate the implementation program immediately.
